Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere Vol 3: The Good, The Bad and The Bubbly
Shit that seems like another era ago now!! When was it? 2 weeks ago? Let's see what I can remember...
Just outside the train station in Paris a fan gave me a piece of artwork he'd made... lovely thing... it had the wrong lyrics from The Dying Of The Light painted onto canvas!!
Jumped on the Eurostar back to Brussels for another gig at some gaff called Club 69... I say gig, it was actually being broadcast live on the radio and Club 69 it turns out was just a studio in the depths of the radio station. Why was it called Club 69? Probably because it was big enough to hold about 69 fucking people! It was tiny... I used to have a bathroom back in the 90's that held at least 75 people!!! Good show though.
Got the train the following morning back into London. It was good to be home... One's own bed, wife, children, cat etc.
I was home for a week exactly and in that week I managed to do 2 gigs and one video!!
All excellent as I remember (except for the video obviously...not the video itself...just the fact that I had to be in it!)
The first gig was at a place called The Rivoli Ballroom. I have no idea what part of London it was in. I'd never been that far south of the river... bandit country it was or is... Being broadcast at some point on Absolute Radio. Check it out. It was pretty fucking good I think.
The other show was at The Royal Albert Hall (best venue ever!). What a night!! That place and that crowd has NEVER failed to bring the best out of me. A truly special night.
Saturday night in London? Yes please. Even the soundcheck was great. My 2 lads had a ball on Daddy Pigs drum kit and yelping..."1,2,1,2!!" down my mic'.
That band Future Islands opened up for us... Now THAT guy has got some moves!! Excellent behaviour!
It looked like an older crowd to me but none the less enthusiastic. Easily in the top 5 of the tour so far...but as great as that gig was...the fucking after show?!?!
Holy fucking shitballs what a night!! We smashed it until 5:00am, at which point we were asked to leave. A sterling effort all the same. Needless to say the next 2 days were horrific. Well worth it though.
You currently find me in the great city of Seoul in South Korea where this week I will be mostly doing it Gangnam style.
Keep it livid yeah?
ONWARDS.

So... I've been in Brussels for 2/3 days... can't remember now.
It's been fucking BORING I can tell you that...and raining, I can tell you that and all.
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of days off I get in Brussels. I reckon I've had more days off here than anywhere else in the world... Why? There is literally NOTHING to do here. Fuck all.
Shops full of cakes... Streets full of cunts with cameras... Shops full of cakes...and waffles.
Good job there was football on over the weekend...saying that, even THAT was boring too.
Did I mention the show in Utrecht? Seemed like quite a few English yobbos had made the trip. Must have been a UKIP away day or summit? Lairy bunch of fuckers. Great gig. Edgy!
The show here in Brussels was very, very good indeed. Loved it. The crowd seemed to be split into two camps: Bald fellas with glasses at the rear (clearly journalists!) and young kids (mainly girls!) down the front. Great show.
I'm off to Paris today for ANOTHER TV show then back to this throbbing metropolis of pastries and Polaroids for some radio show. I think then home for a week or so!!
As this leg of the tour has technically finished let me thank all of you what attended the shows.
It's been great I think. I will see you somewhere down the road. Probably in the summer at some festival or other?
Keep it livid yeah...?
ONWARDS.

PS: Today I have been mostly listening to Colt by Dense & Pika... Get on it!

So Copenhagen.
A great gig. A small gig relatively speaking. Hot and sweaty. Old skool.
Mega vibe in the room. Band and punter all in it together. Very enjoyable.
It was St. Patrick's night which is always a good night wherever in the world you might be.
I won't lie, those of us what is Irish (which is to say me!!) did raise 1 or 2 to give thanks and praise for the Irish blood in us!
Another overnight on the bus for a day off in Düsseldorf…yes Düsseldorf!!!!
A day off that was as unenjoyable as the gig itself. My first shit one. I guess 1 out of 11 ain't bad and if we keep that average up I shall be most impressed (I'm talking about the gig here).
As the gig was being broadcast simultaneously live on TV and radio it only served to make it more uncomfortable. Nothing like being visibly irritated on national television.
Some guy had flown all the way from India for the gig!
I tried for the lad…I truly did. But when it ain't there…it ain't there.
Anyway today is another day. I'm off to Utrecht.
Yes UTRECHT!!!!
Keep it livid.
ONWARDS.

PS: Today I will be mostly listening to Let It Roll by Doug Lazy.
